Community Unites for Hope & Health

Grand Rapids, Mich. – On Thursday, November 7, 2019 over 400 friends of Cherry Health Foundation gathered at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park to celebrate what is going right in healthcare.

This annual immersive fundraising event, Cherry Health Celebration, proved an exciting evening of storytelling, as guests engaged the organization’s message of “hope beyond the headlines.” Through sponsors, individual donors and pledges made that evening, over $143,000 was donated to support access to high-quality healthcare in medical, dental, vision and counseling services to 76,000 patients.

CEO Tasha Blackmon offered inspiring results of the work Cherry Health is accomplishing in access to vaccines, lowering the cost of prescription drugs, connecting those with opioid use disorder with effective recovery, and bringing dignity as well as breaking stigma for those diagnosed with mental illness.

Cherry Health Ambassadors were on hand sharing their first-hand experiences of access to comprehensive care, and the impact health equity has on their life.

“We were honored to be the Presenting Sponsor of Cherry Health Celebration. We support Cherry Health Foundation because we work to secure wellness for everyone in our community, our clients and our neighbors. This event was an opportunity to celebrate what is working in healthcare: offering excellent, comprehensive care for the whole person. Cherry Health makes that possible for anyone to achieve, breaking down barriers and offering an example for how healthcare can and should work for everyone,” shared Jim Alton, President of Acrisure Benefits Group.

Nearly 60 businesses and individuals came together to sponsor the event, highlighting these life-changing services. After hearing the many ways Cherry Health is offering hope as an answer to overwhelming headlines, guests were asked to take action. And act they did, by signing up for tours to learn more about mission, joining a committee, and investing in outcome-based healthcare.

Next year’s Cherry Health Celebration will be announced soon!
