December 11, 2018 (WOODTV) – You haven’t been bombarded with ads or phone calls about insurance coverage this year. That’s making health experts worried that patients won’t have the coverage they need.
“The information just isn’t out there,” Analiza Mejia-Urias with Cherry Health in Grand Rapids.
The agency received federal grants when the Affordable Care Act marketplace first went live, allowing it to advertise and have a dedicated team to signing up new patients.
“The current concern is the lack of funding that there has been, so there’s the lack of advertisement. Five years ago, Cherry Health was receiving grants to promote the information for the marketplace insurance. It’s now due to a federal cut that information is not out there,” Mejia-Urias said.
The most critical information now is the deadline. Everyone has to be signed up for marketplace insurance by Dec. 15.
