November 14, 2018 (Greenville Daily News) – The Montcalm Youth Wellness Committee strongly believes in that idea, as they want all middle and high school students to be aware of the dangers that substances like alcohol, marijuana, cigarettes and prescription drugs can hold.
During the Lakeview Community Schools Board of Education meeting on Monday evening, Lakeview High School senior Madison McCrumb and junior Brad Case – both members of the Montcalm Youth Wellness Committee – were invited to speak to the board and offer an update on what their organization has been up to lately.
“In 2018, we have had youth representation from Greenville, Lakeview, Carson City and Vestaburg,” Case said. “With help from our supporters at Cherry Health and the Greenville Area Community Foundation, we’ve been able to send 27 youths in the county to several different drug awareness training programs.”
During these training sessions, students are asked to brainstorm specific strategies to combat the spread of substance abuse within their schools and hometowns.
