Cherry Health Announces Retirement of Long-Time CEO, Appointment of New CEO

Grand Rapids, MI – Cherry Health today announced that Chris Shea will retire as CEO, effective March 31, 2018. The board of directors has appointed Tasha Blackmon to succeed Shea. Blackmon will assume the role on April 1, 2018.

“On behalf of the board and Cherry Health employees, we are grateful for Chris’ dedicated leadership these past 20 plus years,” said Dave Smith, Cherry Health’s President of the Board of Directors. “During his tenure, Chris continually ensured high quality integrated care and positioned the organization for future growth.”

Together, we have become Michigan’s largest federally qualified health center providing integrated care to more than 70,000 patients annually.”

She brings the experience and focus needed to take Cherry Health forward in this fast-paced industry along with an innovative approach to serving our community,” said Smith.

Much of Blackmon’s career has been in the health care industry with the past 12 years being at Cherry Health. Most recently she served as Chief Operations Officer for Cherry Health overseeing daily operations and strategic planning. Blackmon is passionate about community involvement and serves on several non-profit committees.
