The biggest week of the year for Cherry Health and Health Centers around the nation is National Health Center Week (NHCW)! This year NHCW happened the week of August 13-19, and the theme was “Celebrating America’s Health Centers: The Key to Healthier Communities.” During NHCW, Cherry Health joined thousands of communities around the nation to recognize and celebrate the innovative work of Health Centers. This week is important because it gives Health Centers a chance to speak out for the people and communities who rely on its services for healthy and productive lives.
In honor of NHCW, one of the ways Cherry Health celebrated was by inviting patients and staff from each location to write on a mega block what Cherry Health means to them, and then use their creativity to build a structure of their choice out of it. After the week was over, a contest was completed between each of the sites and judges chose a winner from all of the submitted picture.
The winning site of the Mega Block Activity was:
Eaton Community Health Center
The staff at Eaton Community Health Center chose ‘camels,’ because “camels are the most prevalent theme that is associated in that of traveling and journeying across distances. Whole communities entrust their cargo and lives to these placid yet strong animals.”
