ACA: Who signed up and what they need to know

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – April first is here and the first round of open-enrollment for the Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare, is over.

An estimated 9,000 people signed up at Cherry Street Health Services in Grand Rapids. They came from all walks of life, but Region 3 Lead Navigator Michelle Fitzgerald says one group sticks out.

“Younger people who weren’t able to verify their identity. If you don’t have a credit score, really hard time verifying your identity through healthcare.gov,” Fitzgerald said. She says there were also a high number of people with immigration status.
