Building Hope: Providing Health for the Whole Community

Though we serve 42,000 individuals annually we are especially in need at our West Side Health Center . We are in the process of renovating the attached 9,900 Sq. Ft. building to improve our services. I addition, throughout our agency we are making technological improvements that will result in improved quality of care. With your help, this $3.5 million project will lead to:

• Additional dental services, to alleviate the needs of the over 300 patients who are turned down for service each month.
• Additional pediatric and prenatal care services to over 3,800 patients each year, to alleviate the overcrowding of Grand Rapids Pediatrics and other sites.
• Offices for AmeriCorps, a year long experience in service to America
• The Kent County Health Department will have a new West Side office for such services as immunizations and the WIC nutrition prenatal and pediatric nutrition program.
• West Side will serve as a model site for quality improvement linked to technology. This includes electronic medical and electronic dental records. These technological improvements will contribute to our ability to improve the quality of treatment for chronic disease management as part of a national “Health Disparities Collaborative” partnership.
• The building is one of two in the proposed Stockbridge historic district that has been singled out for individual consideration. We would welcome contributions directed specifically at renovations that preserve the historic nature of the 107 year old building.
