We assist providers with applying for both Federal and State Loan Repayment Programs.
The National Health Service corps (NHSC) loan repayment program and the Michigan State Loan Repayment Program (MSLRP) assists in the recruitment and retention of medical, dental, and mental health care providers by providing loan repayment to those who enter into MSLRP service obligations. These service obligations require participants to provide full-time, primary healthcare services at an eligible nonprofit practice site located in a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) for a period of two to four years.
AmeriCorps is a national service program that engages more than 75,000 Americans in intensive service each year at nonprofits, schools, and public agencies all across the country. AmeriCorps members learn valuable skills and earn money for education while making a difference in their community.
AmeriCorps members are an integral part of healthcare delivery at Cherry Health. Our AmeriCorps members focus on increasing access to primary and preventative healthcare for underserved populations, providing health insurance enrollment assistance, and providing health education for children and their families to promote healthy lifestyles choices.
Members receive a living allowance, health insurance, student loan forbearance, student loan interest accrual repayment, child care assistance (if eligible), and an education award of $5,775 (upon successfully completion of the program).
