October 12, 2016 (MLive) – As of this month, 17,796 low-income Kent County children and young adults are able to access dental care for free with the expansion of the state’s Healthy Kids Dental program.
The program that has benefited kids throughout the state was expanded Oct. 1, to Kent, Wayne and Oakland counties. In those counties, the program was previously only available for children under age 13.
Now Medicaid-eligible young people under age 21 have access to dental exams, cleanings, X-rays, fillings, fluoride treatments, sealants and other service at no cost. The program now serves all 83 counties.
